Paul Conway has over 25 years’ experience in project delivery and construction leadership across Ireland, the Middle East, the United States, and the EU. He has held senior project and programme management roles on complex residential, commercial, and industrial projects, working with organisations including RCE Ltd, Ellen Middle East, Poltrona Frau Group, mac-group, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft.
Formally trained in Civil Engineering and Project Management, and a member of the MSIC, Paul brings a disciplined, performance-led approach to construction, with a strong focus on safety, programme certainty, and build quality.
While assessing modern construction methods capable of improving quality, reliability, and long-term performance in Irish projects, Paul identified insulated concrete form (ICF) construction as a viable solution.
Following detailed evaluation of available systems, including direct assessment of BuildBlock in the United States, he recognised its suitability for the Irish market.Paul founded BuildBlock Ireland to design, manufacture, and supply BuildBlock ICF wall systems locally.
He led the development of a strategic manufacturing partnership with Kingspan to provide a compliant, Irish-based supply route for design teams and contractors adopting ICF construction.
Today, Paul continues to lead BuildBlock Ireland, working directly with clients, designers, and contractors to support predictable, higher-performance building outcomes.
BuildBlock’s mission is to provide reliable and consistent delivery for every project that uses its ICF system. The product is manufactured in Ireland through a close working relationship with Kingspan and informed by the technical development of BuildBlock in the United States. This foundation supports the wider purpose of advancing modern construction methods that offer stronger performance, dependable quality and a clear path from design to completion.
It allows project teams to build with confidence and to create buildings that meet high standards for comfort, durability and long-term value. The aim is to give architects, developers and contractors practical support and a process they can trust when working with ICF and other offsite approaches
BuildBlock was formed in 2004 by founder and CEO Mike Garrett. Mike had been a top distributor for two other major ICF companies. He spent more than12 years in ICF construction and distribution and an additional 17 years in residential and commercial construction before launching BuildBlock. He pioneered the use of ICFs in Oklahoma.

BuildBlock ICF is produced in Ireland in a factory that has been making insulated building materials for more than forty years. The team there has worked with moulded components for decades, so the process behind each block is familiar and well established. Every form is cast, shaped and finished with an emphasis on accuracy, because even small variations have an impact when you are stacking courses on site.
The factory works closely with Kingspan, which brings its own experience in insulation and manufacturing standards into the process. This partnership keeps production aligned with the expectations of Irish designers and contractors.
It also means the product comes from a supply chain that is already recognised for quality and consistency in the Irish market. BuildBlock ICF is produced under ISO 9001 quality management and aligns with NSAI requirements for construction products used in Ireland.
The system also carries the approvals needed for insulated concrete formwork in structural use. These standards give project teams confidence that each block leaving the factory meets the same level of precision and will behave as expected during installation.

We wanted everything to be Energy efficient, energy conscience, and low waste. When it came to choosing the ICFs, BuildBlock provided the least amount of waste on the project. ICFs have far less waste compared to wood because there are not as many costly wood cuts. BuildBlock also had the characteristics of low maintenance and the blocks fit together nicely.
